How Downtown Day Camp is Different From NYC's K-5th Grade Summer Rising Program
Our Downtown Day Camp takes place in our 30,000 square foot Downtown Community Center, and includes daily swim lessons in our private pool, daily outdoor field sports on the Battery Park City ball fields, Pier 25 mini-golf and beach volleyball, arts and crafts, music and drumming, ooey gooey science, movement, weekly animal hour, special events, and more, all led by our amazing team of experienced staff and administrators.
Parents are asking how our Downtown Day Camp, now in it's 30th season, differs from the DOE/DYCD Summer Rising Program. Some of the main differences include DOE/DYCD's focus on academics, as well as their all day 8:00am - 6:00pm, five days per week, full summer attendance requirements, which are outlined below. The DOE/DYCD Summer Rising program takes place in various public school buildings, and will not have access to our Community Center, Pool, or other resources.
According to the DOE/DYCD Website:
- Students attending the K-5th Grade Summer Rising Program must attend a full summer, July 5th - August 19th
