What are your policies on photography?
Member Photography Policy: To protect and respect the privacy of our members and staff we reserve the right, at our discretion, to limit public photography at the Center. Video recording is not allowed. No photography is permitted during drop-off programs, including our After-School programs between the hours of 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM.
Photo Release: Manhattan Youth or its agents may record and/or photograph programs and use such images for publicity at their discretion. Your attendance and/or participation is deemed your consent to appear in such programs, photographs, recordings, print, website and social media without compensation or notification, though we will make every effort to inform parents and caregivers at the center when conducting photography for publicity purposes.
What is your code of conduct?
At the Downtown Community Center we expect staff, members, and guests to behave in accordance with our values and with respect for the rights and dignity of others. We speak in respectful tones, refrain from the use of vulgar or derogatory language, and do not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or age. We resolve conflicts in a respectful, honest, and caring manner - never resorting to physical contact or intimidation. Manhattan Youth reserves the right to deny or limit any users' participation at the Downtown Community Center if their conduct is of a nature that violates these policies. If you have concerns about a person or behaviors witnessed at the community center, please contact Camille Diamond, Deputy Director of the Downtown Community Center at Camille@manhattanouth.org
What do I need to swim at the center?
We hope we see our members for Family Swim, Lap Swim, and classes that are included in membership like Water Otters, Bubble Babies, and Adult Beginner and Intermediate Swim classes. We ask swimmers to bring their own towels and provide swim diapers for children that are not toilet trained.
What's your policy on older children?
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult when using the Center facility, except when enrolled in a teen/tween program.
What are your Community Center refund policies?
There are no refunds for memberships since members can cancel their membership at any time without penalty. For premium registration classes, refunds will be granted at the discretion of the Deputy Director of the Downtown Communitiy Center, and must be requested in writing. To request a refund, email Camille@manhattanyouth.org.
Refund policies differ from department to department. For refund information on Afterschool and Swim lessons, please contact them directly.
There are no refunds for our school-year program Preschool Prep, although those who enroll in the first semester are not obligated to stay for the second semester.
There are no refunds for one off programs or events.
Can I take a trial of a class before registering? Are classes Prorated?
When space is available, any registration class can be experienced as a trial for a $25 fee. If you choose to register, that fee is applied to the registration fee. This does not apply to swim or afterschool classes.
We do pro-rate registration classes for late starters.
I like your space! Can I rent it for a birthday party or other event?
Because our spaces are filled with programs and kids most hours of the day, our spaces are not available for rental. Thanks for thinking of us!
