What is the Outdoor Adventure Summer Program?
The Outdoor Adventure Summer Program is an overnight weekend trip of exploration, achievement and discovery for youth in grades 4 - 9. It offers camping, hiking, evening camp fires, swimming, canoeing,  team building, arts & crafts and more.

Where will the Outdoor Adventure Summer Program take place?
The Manhattan Youth Outdoor Adventure Summer Program will take place at the Appalachian Mountain Club's Outdoor Mohican Center in Blairstown, New Jersey. The address is 50 Camp Road, Blairstown, NJ 07825.

When does the Outdoor Adventure Summer Program begin?
Our Summer Outdoor Adventure Program will meet Friday, July 28th - Sunday, July 30th.

What are my child's living arrangements like at the Outdoor Mohican Center?
Each child will sleep in a cabin during his/her stay with other children of the same grade. Your child will live in a bunk area with 10-12 children and 2-4 other staff members. Four person tents will be provided for youth during days when children participate in camping activities.

I would like my child to room with his/her friend. Do you have a cabin request form?
During registration, you have the option of requesting a buddy for your child to bunk with. We work hard to make sure as many requests as possible are granted. However, final cabin assignments are at the discretion of the directors. You will be notified if your request cannot be granted prior to your child's arrival at the Outdoor Mohican Center.

Will my child have access to the internet or phone?
Internet and phone service will not be provided during the Outdoor Adventure Summer Program. Mobile phones get little reception and we have found that talking with family and friends from home actually encourages homesickness. Therefore, campers may not use phones while at the Outdoor Mohican Center.

Is there an electronic device policy?
Cellphone use is not permitted during the program. We ask participants not to carry or use cell phones, mobile web devices, iPods, mp3 players, portable radios or CD players, portable gaming devices, or other entertainment-related devices during the entirety of the program. Electronic devices prevent participants from being fully engaged in their outdoor experience, and these devices may be damaged or destroyed in outdoor environments. Ideally, these devices should be left at home. *This policy does not apply to small digital cameras.

What if I need to get in touch with my child in an emergency?
Rest assured, you will be given all of the necessary contact information to reach us on site in the case of an emergency.

What if my child has dietary restrictions?
It is very important that all food-related allergies, restrictions, or concerns be listed on your medical form and that this form is returned before our summer Outdoor Adventure program starts. Late notification of food-related needs may restrict our ability to accommodate your child. Please list all food-related restrictions as accurately as possible.

How will my child get to the Outdoor Mohican Center?
Complimentary bus transportation will be provided to and from the Outdoor Mohican Center.
