4th - 9th Grade Outdoor Adventure Program

Our Summer Program
As you may already know, Manhattan Youth has been engaged during the school year with America's premier outdoor organization, the Appalachian Mountain Club, and have taken our After-School students on overnights there for the past several years. Modelled after our After-School Outdoor Adventure Program, our Summer Program is designed to make the outdoors accessible and meaningful to youth in grades 4th - 9th.

Please visit our FAQ page for answers to general questions about our Summer Program.

Our Leadership Team
Our leadership team of experienced child-care professionals have each been trained and certified through the Appalachian Mountain Club's Youth Opportunities Program. This program helps youth workers gain the skills they need to independently take their youth outdoors. Our activity specialists and counselors learn group management, navigation, time management, environmental awareness, proper clothing, team building activities, nutrition, menu planning, and more. YOP's annual trainings help ensure that your child has the best and most safe experience during camp.

Benefits to Youth
Youth who participate in our Outdoor Adventure Summer Program benefit in countless ways as they step into new environments.  These outdoor adventure experiences provide youth with the opportunity to develop: leadership skills, self-confidence and self-respect, trust, a sense of responsibility for self, others, the community, and the environment, critical thinking skills, teamwork and decision-making skills.
