Coding at the Center for 2nd -5th Grades

 Enjoy a new roster of evening coding classes for busy tweens who love computer science and coding. These classes are available to anyone in the appropriate grade.

Evening Coding Classes
Winter/Spring Sessions begin the week of March 5th and continue through June 20th. Register for Winter/Spring sessions as of January 3rd.

Tuesdays 5:45-6:45pm

Coding in Minecraft --for 2nd to 5th grade students
Don't just play Minecraft, MAKE IT. Coding in Minecraft uses the most popular game in the world to teach students not only how to code, but how to think for themselves, learn to see things through from beginning to end, discover the ins and outs of professional game design--all while having fun with their friends. 
This class is open to the general public.

Tuesdays October 16th -January 22nd. No Class December 25th or January 1st.


Wednesdays 5:45-6:45
Starting from Scratch --for 2nd - 5th grade students 
This intro to coding course for elementary students will teach the basics of computer science using Scratch. Each student will be given their own secure Scratch account, to which they can log in at home and show you what they're working on.
This class is open to the general public.

Wednesdays October 17th -January 23rd. No class December 26th

Thursdays 5:45-6:45pm
Other Worlds: Coding in 3-D  --for 3nd to 5th grade students, and more advanced students. Prerequisite: Minecraft.

Students will learn basics of coding, 3-D modeling and computer environments. Starting with Minecraft, they will move on to Unity and Unreal, which are industry standard software for building 3D environments. Concepts such as sketching, prototyping, level design, mathematics, and environmental storytelling are also utilized.

Thursdays, October 18th -January 24th. No class Nov. 22nd  and December 27th.

Summer Hours: Saturdays 11:00am-2:00pm
Open Studio --All Ages (3rd grade and under must be accompanied by an adult)

Turn screen-time into productive, creative time. Members are invited to take full advantage of our computer lab every Saturday. Work on a project or learn something new! Earn points with each completed project and trade them in for arcade-style prizes.
