PS 150 After-School Program
Welcome - At the end of the school day, classroom teachers dismiss all students registered for our program directly to our staff, who greet students with a healthy snack and a smile. Students eat and socialize with friends, decompressing from the school day and gearing up for after-school.
Class Time - The sports, arts and enrichment classes that you select when enrolling your child in the program are taught by certified teachers, teaching artists and activity specialists. Each day, your child is dismissed directly to our staff. After a healthy snack, they will attend the club(s) for which they are enrolled from 3:30 -4:30PM, followed by Choice Time.
Before and After Class - Students choose from a list of structured and open play activities, set up by our team leaders. These activities include: study hall, gym sports, yard play, indoor games, arts & crafts, music and more. This activity is built into your child’s daily schedule as a structured free play before and after their selected club for the day.
Students at PS 150 may also sign up for classes at the Downtown Community Center (DCC) on Tuesdays. Our staff will accompany them on our bus to bring them over to our Center.
Register for Pre-k here. You must register for a minimum of 3 days in order to attend. Please do not register for individual activities, only select the Pre-K day that you are choosing to have your child attend. Clubs are included in the Pre-K registration

Ooey Gooey Science
Every kid knows that you don't really learn anything unless you make a mess and get your hands dirty. This class focuses on everything oozy, grimy, slippery and slimy that exists in nature or can be made (safely!) in a test tube. Fun for all!
Perler Beads
Perler Beads are plastic fusible beads. The beads are arranged on pegboards to form patterns and then fused together with heat from a clothes iron. Because Perler Beads layout on a pegboard bead by bead, the end result looks like a pixelated illustration! An engaging activity that promotes creativity, focus and dexterity.
Students will create basic 2-dimensional art pieces and develop them into more 3D projects. Weekly, students will continue to develop these pieces and create an ensemble of themed art projects.
Spanish (Beginner)
In this course, students will learn the basics of the Spanish language through a variety of activities such as brief conversations, directed dialogues, worksheets, and short writing exercises. Additionally, audio and visual aids, as well as short reading passages, will be utilized to enhance the learning experience.
Tumbling
Basketball
Students learn basketball skills, good sportsmanship, and sense of team spirit. Players are divided into groups based on experience and skill level. Each class session includes a lesson filled with drills and a game or scrimmage.
Jewelry Making/DIY
Photography/Filmmaking
Students will hone their skills as photographers as they learn the basics of composition, lighting, exposure, and post production!
Soccer
Kids will learn the basic rules, skills, and sportsmanship to help improve their soccer game. All levels welcome!

With a hard shell and a tender surprise, these hand pies are a pocketful of joy! Students will learn the basics of dough shaping as well as how to make all the sweet and savory fillings placed inside.
DCC Super Heroes & Fairies
Inspired by their favorite comic book artists and armed with their imagination, student create characters and story lines, first in single panels, then in comic strips, and finally creating complete comic books at the end of each semester.
DCC Yoga
This workshop teaches safe and developmentally sound yoga poses, breathwork, meditation and relaxation. Students build strength and flexibility, increase concentration and attention spans, and relieve tension and anxiety.
DCC Ballet
An introduction to ballet vocabulary and technique. Students develop strength, alignment, musicality, and the grace that is inherent in the form. Dancers in our ballet classes are prominently featured in each semester's dance performance.
DCC Pottery Wheel
Working with clay has been all the rage. This class will explore all the different ways of creating with clay. Handbuilding and working on the pottery wheel helps develop motor skills, problem-solving abilities and creativity through a variety of stimulating projects. From animal-themed sculptures to crafting their own favorite cup or bowl, there are endless possibilities for imaginative, figurative, and function work.

DCC Game Design and Animation
Join our interactive club that allows students to explore Video Game Design and Computer Generated Imaging in a project-based environment. Through this hands-on experience, you'll have the chance to create interactive art, media, and narratives while learning valuable skills in computational thinking and mathematics.

We are proud to offer Youth Swim Lessons as a choice in our After-School Programs. Children receive the same instruction and swim experience as our Youth swim lessons. Your child will be picked up directly from their classroom at school dismissal, have a snack, and be transported to the Downtown Community Center for childcare activities provided by our After-school staff.

Students learn computer languages through coding projects on a variety of online platforms. Students engage with computer science as a medium for creativity, communication, problem solving, critical thinking, and testing ideas.

Our blend of intramural sports and non-competitive sports skills and drills is sure to meet your young athlete's needs! Students will engage in a variety of seasonal sports responding to the physical fitness and socioemotional need for students eager to have a fun environment, where they can reconnect with their peers, and their favorite after-school coaches and group leaders.
Messy Experiments
Science is about exploring, experimenting, asking questions, and having fun! In this class, your student will do all of the above. We will be learning about how matter behaves through fun activities and chemical reactions.

Introduce your child to the world of ceramics! Develop motor skills and learn creative problem solving through projects aimed at stimulating imagination and creativity. Projects range from animal themed sculptures, making a new favorite cup or bowl, figurative work and more!
DCC Homemade Comforts
This class will feature easy, yummy recipes that your child can learn to make at home. It will feature both savory and sweet dishes, with students concentrating on their own single-serving fare. Besides different sauces and dips, we will make veggie pinwheels, cheddar corn dogs and breakfast muffins, parfaits, and more!
DCC Let's Learn Manderin!
Wǒmen zǒu ba! (Let's go!)
Our approach, in several ways, but a good starting point is to focus on Pinyin, tones, basic vocabulary, and sentence structure. Your child can then move on to learning Chinese characters, engaging with native speakers, and immersing themselves in the language through media!

DCC Group Piano

A high-energy class for dancers of all experience levels. The dance studio will be hopping as students learn individual and teamwork skills that evolve into polished dance numbers. All students participate in a Manhattan Youth dance performance at the end of each semester

Do you have a kindergartner or first grader who is obsessed with dinosaurs? Why fight it? Here's a place for learning about the prehistoric creatures, drawing them, talking about them, and, perhaps, roaring like a T-Rex.

Art Studio
Our multidisciplinary art classes offer students a chance to explore different media from drawing and painting to collage and sculpture. Projects are selected to provide inspiration for free expression and to develop specific skills.Exploring drawing, painting, sculpting, printmaking and other methods through age-appropriate structured projects and free exploration, students have fun while learning the basic fundamentals of art.
Dungeons & Dragons
In this class, students will learn everything they need to know to play the world's greatest role playing game: Dungeons and Dragons. Students will start by creating their own adventurer, with their own unique backstory, goals, and motivations. The players will then work together while they explore the vast worlds of D&D. Students might explore a dark dungeon, ruined city, a long forgotten temple deep within a dense jungle, or protect a village from the dangers that lurk beyond it. Students will solve puzzles, and work with other players while developing important social and emotional skills such as: empathy, problem-solving, teamwork, leadership and more. All while battling fantastic monsters, and discovering mystical magical items and other treasure.

From worm composting and recycling to green energy and sustainable power, students will explore how the world works, and what it will take to keep it going! Upper grades will participate in service projects at their schools and in the community.

Learn the fundamentals of character and prop concept art! It will teach you the thought process and craft of designing a prop from start to finish.
DCC Musical Theater
Experienced performers help students develop singing, dancing and acting skills. Students work as a cast throughout the semester on scenes and musical production numbers.
DCC MY Food Architects!
Inspired by Carl Warner, Christine McConnell, and lovers of Legos, students will plan and build edible structures of all shapes and sizes. By utilizing fresh produce, mixing special spreads, and baking sweet and savory crackers they can create a crunchy cabin, a flaky farmhouse, or a sweet skyscraper!

Chess
Never mind that chess is a great exercise for the mind that increases math and literacy abilities. Chess is a great game, and kids love it! We offer beginner, intermediate and advanced chess classes, as well as an annual tournament for students in our Manhattan Youth programs.
Music
Our classes cover a diverse range of songs, from classic jazz standards to popular tunes, and focus on teaching students vocal production, singing, and choreography. Students will also have the opportunity to learn about rhythm, music theory, ear training, and harmony.
Team Sports
Your young athlete will engage in skills and drill along all seasonal sports! They will compete in basketball, tee ball, flag football and more!
Comic Book Making

Parkour and Primal Movement for Kids
Parkour has quickly become one of the world's fastest-growing and most highly efficient training methods for mind, body and spirit. Using the natural environment as a play space, practitioners (called traceurs) test their limits by running, climbing, jumping, vaulting and rolling over obstacles, as a means of adapting to and then overcoming the mental, physical and even emotional challenges that arise from the physical barriers themselves.

Fairy Tale Club
Children study their cherished bedtime stories, from Hans Christian Andersen to the Brothers Grimm, learning the foundations of storytelling and magical imagery, to invent their own enchanting tales.
